William Ball

William Ball, 93, of Webster City, died peacefully surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Southfield Wellness Community. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church from 10:00-10:45 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM.  The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

William was born on January 28, 1930, to James and Mary (Schwering) Ball.  At a young age William started farming with his Grandpa Ball, and he continued farming until he needed to retire due to health concerns.  He then worked for his sister and brother-in-law at SMART Industries as a production supervisor and Human Resources for about 10 years. 

He was united in marriage to Evelyn Snyder, on June 24, 1954, they made their home on a farm in Duncombe, Iowa. William had an array of hobbies and interests that brought him immense joy. He possessed a remarkable talent for making crafts which he and Evelyn enthusiastically sold at craft shows. His passion extended to woodworking as well as creating Christmas decorations and holiday decor that added warmth to many homes during festive seasons. William enjoyed going to Minnesota and spending time with his special little girl Jenny, making pies together.  Furthermore, William truly cherished spending time outdoors; he reveled in everything nature had to offer.

William’s family includes:  his siblings Lavonne Smart, of Des Moines, IA, Marcella (Francis) Shipman, of Webster City, IA, Melvin Ball of Waco, TX, Ina Schwandt of Iowa Falls, IA, and Bernard (Cheryl) Ball of Granbury, TX; his special girl Jenny (Marc) Barnes of Mankato, MN; nephew Troy Draeger; several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Pauline Ball of Fort Dodge, IA.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings Irven Ball, Mary Halligan, Thurlow Ball and Donald Ball.
