Verlijean Carlson, 78 of Webster City died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in Webster City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 1:30 PM, at Faith United Methodist Church in Webster City, with a visitation prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.Bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
Verlijean was born on October 26, 1937, in Webster City to Clarence and Pearl (Kent) Boswell. She attended the Webster City Schools through the 9th grade. She married Leonard Junior Carlson on October 3, 1953, in Webster City. She was a homemaker for 63 years but also sold Avon for 35 years, and was the secretary and bookkeeper for Carlson trucking for 45 years. She loved the Lord and accepted Jesus as her Savior since her early childhood, she imparted this passion for the Lord Jesus Christ to her children.
Verlijean’s hobbies were playing piano, drawing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She was the den mother for cub and webelos scouts (in the mid-60’s). She also enjoyed fishing, camping and trying new recipes. One of her favorite things was playing games with her grandchildren. Her happiest days were their yearly fishing vacations in Canada and Minnesota, and the holidays with cooking for family gatherings.
She will be missed every day by her beloved husband “Boe”; her children: Joyce (Kenneth) Balla of Harcourt, IA and Lenny (Elaine) of Eagle Grove; grandchildren: Michael (Danielle) Carlson, Heather (Tony) Johnson, Michael Balla, Kya Carlson, Kayne Carlson, Reckell (Shelby) Johnson, Robert (Brooke) Balla and David (Jodi) Elsberry; great-grandchildren: Lucas Johnson, Rielley Carlson, Jacen Carlson, Deanna Evans, Bellah Collingsworth, Jenifer Baccam, Cassie (Kyle Willis) Baccam and Tamera Baccam; and one great great grandchild: Jayce Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents and great grandchild Logan Johnson.
