Richard Cross, 59, of the Philippines, formerly of Webster City, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A memorial service will be held this summer. The family has entrusted Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) with the arrangements.
Richard was born on June 2, 1965, in Webster City, Iowa, to Ronald and Karen (Hanson) Cross. During his high school years at Webster City High School, he worked at Briggs Woods Golf Course. Following his graduation, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as a Ground Equipment Technician for 23 years. His Navy career included a world tour aboard the USS John C. Stennis. At the time of his passing, Richard was employed as a Mechanic Technician in Saudi Arabia.
While living in the Philippines, Richard experienced a profound transformation when he came to know Christ as his personal Savior. This event became a cornerstone of his life, leading him to passionately serve Christ and share his faith with others. Richard was a dedicated Sunday School teacher and often preached at his church. He married Priscila on September 18, 2017, in the Philippines. In his personal life, Richard was a self-proclaimed "homebody" who cherished time at home, enjoying quiet moments on the front porch and playing with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife, Priscila, of the Philippines; his son, John David (Jobelle), also of the Philippines; and his beloved grandchildren, Sofia and Stephen. He is also survived by his brother, Randy (Brandi) Cross of Webster City, IA; his sister, Suzie Zimmerman of Hampton, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Karen Cross, and his sister, Lori Culpepper.
