Mary Jean Kolbeck, 98, of Webster City, died on June 27, 2024, at Windsor Manor. Grave Side services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Graceland Cemetery. Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) is assisting the family.
Mary was born on January 10, 1926, to Charles and Edna (Schoon) Latch near Hampton, IA, on a farm.
She married James Kolbeck on June 20, 1947, and the couple had two children.
She was a switchboard operator during the wartime in California. After James died in 1969, she went back to the telephone company. They owned Kolbeck Disposal, and she did the bookkeeping. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church where she held various offices and helped with Girl Scouts. Her interests were crocheting, square dancing, and traveling.
Mary’s family includes her daughter; Nancy (Dave) Wood of Hot Spring Village, AR; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kolbeck; grandchildren: Lea (Ryan) Taylor and Daniel Wood of Fort Smith Ark, Misty (Matt) McKinney and Jamie (Lori) Kolbeck of Webster City and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kolbeck; son, Douglas Kolbeck; parents and 3 brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Manor Staff for the care they gave Mary.
