Lorraine Fielder

Lorraine Fielder, 94, of Webster City, IA died at the Van Deist Medical Center on Friday, August 30, 2024. Private family services will be held at Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com). In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Diamond Willow Ministries (www.d-w-m.org) P.O. Box 438, Fort Thompson, SD 57330.

Lorraine Marie Whisler, the daughter of Forrest and Matilda Whisler, was born on November 28, 1929. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1947. In 1949 she graduated from UNI Iowa Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, IA with a two-year degree in Elementary Education before teaching a year in Dows, Iowa.

On June 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harold Fielder in Webster City. Lorraine worked alongside her husband on a farm north of Williams. They farmed there for 51 years before retiring to Webster City in 2001.

Lorraine was active in the church’s Women Fellowship, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and serving in the kitchen.

She was a long-time member of the New Testament Church of Christ. She raised four daughters and was known for her baking, cooking and gardening skills. In her later years she was able to enjoy her love for reading.

She will live in our hearts forever.

Lorraine is survived by her four daughters: Ann (Richard) Johnston of Pengilly, MN, Faye (David) Nissen of Sioux Falls, SD, Karen (Rob) Perry of Cleveland, MN and Linda (Roger) Bush of Williams, IA; and Grandchildren: Matthew, Anna, Daniel, Michael, Sarah, Esther, Nathan, Melinda and Elizabeth; 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents, her brothers Gerald and Leonard, and her grandchildren Adam and Rachel.

We want to thank all the people who showed care and compassion at Van Deist Medical Center and Crestview Care Center her last three months, and we especially want to thank those who were with her in her final hours.
