Donald Joe High, 89 of Williams, Iowa died on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Southfield Wellness Community, in Webster City, Iowa. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
Donald “Joe” was born on October 2, 1933, in Nashua Iowa to Eldon and Hattie (Bartlett) High. In his youth, while attending school, he worked on farms. Joe served in the US Air Force from 1952 until 1956. On September 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Audry Kahle, at the St. Johns Church of Christ, in Ackley, Iowa. Over the years, he worked as a truck driver hauling poultry and eggs, and for farmers Co-op and Lumber and Farmland Foods until it closed in 1975, he then went on to work for Boyts Luggage in Iowa falls for eight years until his retirement.
In his younger years Joe was very active in bowling leagues, played the guitar, and was a pitcher on slow pitch softball teams. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. After his retirement he kept busy doing odd jobs and push mowing about one acre of land each week. Joe was a member of First Methodist Church in Iowa Falls.
Joe’s family includes his wife of 65 years; children: Teresa Knickerbocker, of Iowa Falls, IA, Peggy Jo (Mike) Koch of Williams, IA, and Barry High of Marshalltown, IA; three grandkids: Mike Knickerbocker, Rachel (Keith) Koch, and David (Lyric) Koch; two great-grandchildren: Mikayla and Carter; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
