Bonnie Hoversten, 92, of Webster City, Iowa, died on August 3, 2023, at Bethany Life in Story City, IA. A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, from 10:00 – 10:45 AM followed by a memorial service at 11 AM. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.
She was born on August 1, 1931, the eldest daughter of A.C. “Tony” and Rosa (Steinke) Singer of Webster City, Iowa. Growing up in rural Iowa, Bonnie received her early education at a country school. She went on to attend Lincoln High School in Webster City, where she graduated in 1949. She then went to the Iowa Lutheran School of Nursing.
On August 12, 1951, she married Harold Hoversten. The couple spent their lives working together on the farm and raising their children and grandchildren. They took several “vacations” by delivering Winnebagos to various locations.
Bonnie served at her church as a Sunday school teacher, lay minister, Stephen Ministry volunteer, circle leader, and helped on project days making quilts for Lutheran World Relief.
Bonnie is survived by her sister Carol Lemon; brother Noel (Linda) Singer; children: Lyn Hoversten Hafner of Iowa City, Jan (Kermit) Greenfield of Blairsburg, Amy Leiserowitz of West Des Moines, John (Laura) Hoversten of Blairsburg, Rosemary (Ken) Kettler of Indianola, and Elaine Hoversten (David VanHorn) of Urbandale; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several bonus grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, daughter Ann Hoversten Caudle, grandson Baruch "Jordan" Weeks, and son-in-law Larry Hafner.
Bonnie chose to be a donor with the Iowa Donor network. In lieu of flowers, donations can be designated for the Iowa Donor Network (www.iowadonornetwork.org), or to Trinity Lutheran Church (www.trinitywebstercity.org) for lighting the stain glass windows.
